we switched to Sonera recently and we got the adsl extra 10/2 package.
unfortunately, we got speeds around 0.4M down and it's lagging like with a 56K modem...

we've had elisa internet previously (8/2) and it was working fine, the Sonera deal is supposed to be faster, but it doesn't seem to work.

Moreover, the first thing recommended in case of trouble is to have a hone line of 2m or less, what does that mean ? We live on the 5 floor of a building and thus the line to our flat is going to be 10m at least. Anyways, the problem can't be in the line since the previous internet provider gave speed according to what was written on the contract.

Is there any hope we can have decent internet access without having to call the technical service ?

Firstly you should check that your modem uses adsl2+ modulation even though your connection speed isn't 24M. You should also use annex m.

If this doesn't improve the connection speed, and you have tried every phone plug in your apartment, you should try a different adsl2+ modem in your flat. If that doesn't help, then you should contact our Technical customer service by calling 0206 90101.

Täällä sama ongelma. Pari viikkoa vanha liittymä Lahden keskustassa. Aluksi toimi todella hyvin ja nopeus oli tasan 10/2 viikon ajan. Olin muutaman päivän poissa ja sillä aikaa vaimo jo valittikin netin hitaudesta, mutta nyt pääsin toteamaan sen itse. Parhaimmillaan 0,4/0.2. Modeemin asetukset tarkistettu, kaikki piuhat paikallaan. Mitä ihmettä?

Vianrajausautomaatissa en päässyt eteenpäin vaikka kuinka yritin painella oikeita numeroita...

the modem is a prestige 660HW series with adsl 2+
however, it seems this model doesn't have annex M, but if the router doesn't support annex M, I shouldn't be restricted to 0.4/0.2 but have at least 1M up...

I clearly asked the person who was selling me the Sonera deal over the phone if we could use the same router that we've had with our previous ISP and the answer was yes...

I've tried another older router capable of max 8M/1M but same problem, I guess I'll try to get yet another router to test on...
Ongelma korjattu. Vihdoin pääsin läpi vikapalveluun josta yhteys uudelleen konfiguroitiin. Ilmeisesti sähkökatkoksesta johtunut ongelma.

Hyvin toimi palvelu kun sinne pääsi. Parantamisen varaa on puhelinpalvelun toiminnassa, sillä ensimmäisellä kymmenellä yrittämällä en päässyt teidän robotista eteenpäin, ei hyväksynyt valintoja. Viimeisellä kerralla samasta numerosta vastasi nauhoitettu miesääni joka ohjeisti antamaan ääniviestin. Sitten vasta toimi.
adrien, if two ADSL-modems (and -cables) both give equally poor connections, please call Technical Customer Service 0206 90101 and choose 6 and 2.

Laajakaista Extra works also with non-ADSL 2+ modem but best bandwiths/speeds attainable are then around 8/1 Mbit/s.
