I was reading that many people have problem after upgrading speed connection. Same happened to me. I renew my contract with Sonera and decided to speed up my connection from 2M to 8M. Well, it was working for few days and then it dropped again on 2M. My Zyxel modem is upgraded to latest version and it is showing that is 8M but I am still getting only 2M and its annoying me. I called Technical support they only helped me to have 8M on my modem ( I thought it will speed up also after while but it did not).
Problem is not in my modem I am sure. Can it be that building where I am living is very old and telephone cable is not supporting the high speed? How can I check this?
It is not okay to pay for 8Mbps and get only 2M 😞 Please HELP !

Anyone have idea what should I do?
Your ADSL-modem is on-line at the moment and based on the bandwidth of the connection the maximum download speed should be about 8 Mbit/s and upload speed 800 kbit/s. The moden uses G.dmt connection which usually is the best option for 8/1M transfer rate.

However there's quite few errors in the data traffic between your ADSL-modem and Sonera's ADSL-concentrator, and that is likely to reduce the actual downstream speed because not all the transferred data is useable.

My advice is to test the connection with another ADSL-modem and -cable (without an extension). A good bandwidth suggest that the landline is likely to be in good condition and something else causes errors on the data.

If you won't get better speeds with another modem, you have possibility to report an error by using Laajakaistan vikailmoituslomake (Broadband Error Report) on Omat sivut. Laajakaistan vikailmoituslomake allows you to change the language to English once you have opened it.

- Use Sonera user-id and its password to sign in.
- Choose 'In English' from the right upper corner.
- Choose Broadband ADSL and answer the questions.
- In the Additional information - field you can describe the problem in your own words.

Sent form goes to Technical Customer Care and they call you back if more information is needed.
