Google Pixel-puhelimien VoLTE tuki ***Viimeinkin Telialla!***

Ok good news for all of those people waiting for VOWIFI like me. The fix in the telia network is quite simple I found the solution whilst reading a pixel thread on Telegram. The solution is as follows.

 

1. Create a new APN under sim settings 

2. Add only the following settings to the APN

Name: whatever name you like

APN: ims

APN type: ims

3. Save the new APN

Goto Network & Internet > Sims > Telia FI

Scroll down to WiFi calling click it then set calling preference to > call over WiFi

Job done, profit and enjoy HD WiFi calling from your home network :)

If your phone does not show WiFi calling then install:

Pixel IMS and Shizuku.

 

I thought this would be all sorted after the June pixel update but it seems Telias network operator configuration file is still out of date?

Maybe someone from Telia can confirm what the situation is, some clarity would be ideal.

I just confirmed your question with out specialist, and got an answer. Our network operator configuration file is not out of date. The device however does not support VoWIFI which is why it cannot be found, but the matter is currently being sorted with the manufacturer/Google!

Thanks for the quick reply, but the pixel 6,7 all support VOWIFI. The reason for the functionality not being visible within the phone or turned on is because google region locks all pixel phones to specific geographical locations and approved service providers. 

I am currently using VOWIFI so the phone does support it. The reason why i ask is because during the june update google added Finland to the Approved 5G countries. Surely now Finland is on the List the VOWIFI phone functionality should be available. More Clarity and detail on this topic would be helpful for customers that are current owners of the Pixel 6,7 and a Telia contract.

Sorry, I wrote that detail quite vaguely in my first reply. I meant that the devices do not support VoWIFI with Finnish subscriptions, and that is why it’s not visible currently. This, even though the device itself technically supports VoWIFI and that is why you are able to get it to work. As I mentioned yesterday, the matter is currently being sorted with the manufacturer and Google, so I believe we are going to get some more clarity on the matter sooner or later!

Just an update to getting the VOWIFI working on Telia as this has not been implemented yet.

Install Shizuku & Pixel IMS

Before I wrote the name and the type of APN in lower case this was causing problems with the phone switching between VOLTE & VOWIFI. The name of the APN and type should all be in upper case as follows.​​​​​​​​​​​​

 

1. Create a new APN under sim settings 

2. Add only the following settings to the APN

Name: IMS

APN: IMS

APN type: IMS

3. Save the new APN

Goto Network & Internet > Sims > Telia FI

Scroll down to WiFi calling click it then set calling preference to > call over WiFi

Job done, profit and enjoy HD WiFi calling from your home network :)

Vielä kun saataisiin pixelit myyntiin telialle, niin kuin Ruotsissakin taitaa olla niin tämä saaga saataisiin päätökseen kunnolla!

Toistaiseksi Google Pixel -puhelimia ei ole tulossa meille myyntiin, mutta katsotaan mitä tulevaisuus tuo tämän suhteen tullessaan.

Are you sure that letter case has any significance?

Being curious, I tried Pixel IMS on an Oukitel WP12 Pro, where VoLTE calls did not work. According to Pixel IMS VoLTE was already enabled, when I opened up sim card settings on it.

Just running Pixel IMS alone didn’t do a thing, VoLTE was still not working.

Then I created ims settings. First I tried the settings you provided. Still nothing.

When looking settings very carefully, I noticed that by default WP12 Pro sets APN Protocol to IPv4. As far as I know, even though Telia has IPv4 internet, their VoLTE is IPv6. Thus, next I tried the following settings:

  • Name: VoLTE
  • APN: ims
  • MCC: 244
  • MNC: 91
  • Authentication type: None
  • APN type: ims
  • APN protocol: IPv6
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv6
  • Bearer: LTE

And voilà, VoLTE symbol appeared on status bar.

Unfortunately I could not get VoWiFi to work with the Oukitel WP12 Pro, but having VoLTE is still a great advancement.

Anyway thank you for all who have commented about Pixel IMS.
